Installation of benches around the cycle paths commences!
Despite Saughton Park being covered in snow thanks to the relentless Beast from the East, works continue to progress throughout the site.
The new cycle paths to the North of the park have now had their surface coat completed. Around these paths are various seating areas, some with some fitness equipment installed!
The main access path has now been completed which links the two new car parks together.
Two new cycle shelters have been erected, one within each car park, and several cycle racks are located through out the park. Down at the bottom of the park, there are several new picnic tables set amongst the wild flowers.
Some new benches have also been installed around the sundial within the Rose Gardens.
Planting works are progressing throughout the walled garden, with the main axis herbaceous border complete, and works progressing into the garden where the bandstand will be located.
Charles Laing & Sons will commence the erection of the bandstand this week and weare all very excited to see this progress over the final few months. Furthermore, Cambridge HOK are on site progressing with the structural works to the glasshouse in preparation for the new glazing to be installed. Internal works to the Winter Gardens will continue this month and will be a complete difference to how you will remember it being.
Gardner Malloy’s stone carvings are now onsite, and works to the entrance walls are progressing.
Once the walls are complete, Gardner will do some in-situ carving, so keep an eye out and watch him work his magic!
Major works are continuing within the play park, including removal of several of the existing equipment and surfacing in preparation for all the new ones coming!
The new play park will be close to double the original size so will keep us busy for the next few months!
